Will Erica and Jeff really get married in the 200th episode? (VIDEO)
Every girl dreams of her wedding day, complete with fire-eaters, unicorns and acrobats. In fact, it’s ABC’s 80s-centric comedy The Goldbergs, so those dreams belong to the bride’s well-meaning but overzealous mother Beverly Goldberg (Wendi McLendon-Covey), who’s only too helpful when it comes to only daughter Erica (Hayley Orrantia) saying “yes” to the fiancé Geoff Schwartz (Sam Lerner). “In typical Beverly fashion, she has her own plans for their ceremony and will try to squeeze in those ideas as much as she can,” Orrantia says. “It becomes an arm wrestle.”
Erica’s big day coincides with a big day for the family sitcom: Episode #200! But there’s a problem with getting married when the couple are considering postponing, Orrantia says, “so we have time to get together again and figure out ‘How can we make this wedding the way we really want it?’ “Erica copes with stress by having a “Brother Spa Day” with Adam (Sean Giambrone) and Barry (Troy Gentile). Guess which sibling decides he likes to be pampered?
We won’t reveal if the walk down the aisle actually happens, but the historic episode includes a bit of nostalgia in the form of pop star Richard Marx, who sings “Right Here Waiting.” Said Orrantia: “It was one of those pinch moments where you’re like, ‘Is this really happening? “”
