One of the Queen’s first pieces of jewelry that Kate was honored to wear was the tiara she donned on her wedding day.

The Cartier Halo Tiara was made in 1936 and purchased by the Queen’s Father, then the Duke of York, for the Queen Mother, and then the Duchess of York.

The tiara was gifted to the Queen, and then to Princess Elizabeth, by her mother on the occasion of her 18th birthday.

Kate used the loan of the tiara, a tradition at royal weddings, to signify the age-old custom of wearing “something borrowed” on her wedding day.

However, in 2017 Kate wore it to a banquet during a state visit to the UK by the King and Queen of Spain – and she was blown away by it.

So much so that in April 2018, Her Majesty sported it while attending a Commonwealth dinner.

She teamed them up with a stunning tartan coat she wore during a screening of the film Cruella at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
